Exercise Physiology

Exercise Physiologists are university qualified health professionals who deliver supervised exercise and conditioning plans for the management of a variety of conditions. They are well suited to designing fitness plans for people who have complex medical disorders that require consideration when returning to healthy physical pursuits.

Exercise Physiologists typically manage people who want to return to a more active lifestyle but have complex requirements and are often apprehensive about causing injury. Exercise physiology can be engaged either before surgery to improve physical condition prior to your operation, or after your operation as part of your recovery program.

Exercise physiology uses a variety of techniques including cardiovascular training, core strengthening, resistance training, flexibility, behavioural modification and coaching. Exercise physiology is often goal oriented and works to help you achieve the lifestyle and fitness objectives you identified as important enough to undertake surgery in the first place. Whether it be weight loss, sport specific conditioning or general lifestyle activity goals, exercise physiology is likely to have a role that will assist.
